According to Capron, nothing scared him more than hearing a nearby coyote sing growing up. Today, their howls represent a resilience and determination to survive in ever changing and hostile environs to Capron. Instead of fear, he has a healthy respect for the animals and considers them some of his favorite neighbors. Capron sculpted the howling coyote on these spurs in 14k gold with relief engraved sterling silver overlays surrounding it. The rowels have fine silver inlays on curved tines that, “represent the ever-changing journey that we all travel.
Wilson Capron grew up in far West Texas with a family background in ranching. He graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1996 with a degree in agricultural economics with business minor. The same year he began to apprentice under bit and spur maker Greg Darnall. He then opened Capron Bits and Spurs in 1999. Capron’s unique designs also stem from the influence of his father, artist and cowboy Mike Capron. Wilson lives in Christoval with his wife, Katy, and daughters, Macy and Emmy.
