Diamond Stamped Cuff by Daniel Sunshine Reeves

A striking example of Daniel “Sunshine” Reeves’ signature stampwork, this sterling silver cuff features a repeating diamond and zigzag pattern deeply hand-stamped across its surface. The design combines crisp geometric lines with richly textured impressions, creating dramatic contrast between the oxidized recesses and polished silver. Each mark is made individually with a hammer and handmade stamp, making the process both highly skilled and labor-intensive. Reeves is known for using 10–20 different handmade stamps on a single piece, with every impression representing a separate hammer blow.

Born in Twin Lakes, New Mexico, in 1966, Daniel “Sunshine” Reeves is a renowned Navajo silversmith who learned the craft from his older brothers, Gary and David Reeves. A professional silversmith since the 1980s, he is celebrated for pushing traditional Navajo stampwork into bold, contemporary forms. His work has earned numerous honors, including Best of Show at the 1997 Santa Fe Indian Market, and has been exhibited at institutions including the Heard Museum and the Peabody Museum at Harvard.
