Artist Information – Floyd Becenti
Floyd Becenti (b. March 9, 1962, Phoenix) was born into the Táchii'nii (Red Running Into the Water) clan and born for the Tóaheedliinii (Water Flows Together) clan. His nali is Bit'ahnii (Folded Arms) and his chei is Haltsooi (Meadow People). Known for his intricate overlay and appliqué narrative designs, Becenti created powerful visual stories addressing Navajo ceremonies, cultural resilience, historic and modern struggles, and pivotal events—including his response to tragedies affecting Native communities. His pieces—whether cuffs, plates, conchos, or seed pots—are widely admired for their emotional depth and astonishing detail.
