Two-Strand Turquoise Nugget & Heishi Shell Necklace with Stamped Silver by Teller Indian Jewelry
Gorgeous asymmetrical nuggets of turquoise are alternated with heishi shell beads and a single bead of coral with hand-stamped sterling silver beads at the top and a hand-tooled hook and eye closure.
Heishe or heishi (pronounced "hee shee") are small disc- or tube-shaped beads made of organic shells or ground and polished stones. They come from the Kewa Pueblo people (formerly Santo Domingo Pueblo) of New Mexico, before the use of metals in jewelry by that people.
