Gorgeous asymmetrical nuggets of turquoise are alternated with heishi shell beads and a single bead of coral with hand-stamped sterling silver beads at the top and a hand-tooled hook and eye closure.

Heishe or heishi (pronounced "hee shee") are small disc- or tube-shaped beads made of organic shells or ground and polished stones. They come from the Kewa Pueblo people (formerly Santo Domingo Pueblo) of New Mexico, before the use of metals in jewelry by that people.

About the artists: These self-taught silversmiths have been making jewelry for over 20 years. They carefully design their pieces and select the stones using a wide variety of natural stones -Turquoise, Lapis, Oyster Shell, Coral, Onyx and more. They show their work in galleries as well as prestigious art shows such as The Heard Museum and Santa Fe Indian Markets. The workmanship is impeccable - you can always depend upon quality when you purchase a piece of Teller Indian Jewelry.
