Unsung Heroes: A Salute to Oklahoma Women who Served their Country by Glenda Carlile
Oklahoma women have always been ready to serve their country, whether in the military or on the home front. Read the exciting stories of Oklahoma’s 104 year old Rosie the Riveter, the first woman to attend West Point, the first woman general in the Air National Guard, and Oklahoma’s first WAAC and first WAVE. Learn about our women who served in Afghanistan and Vietnam, and how one woman used those stories in a second career as a romance author.
Unsung heroes include a prisoners of war, a traveler in space and those who ran the family ranch. Oklahoma women spent hours rolling bandages or entertaining soldiers at USO’s or in their homes in this country and abroad.
We salute and honor these amazing women who made a difference and paved the way for others.
