Chief Plenty Coups, born in 1848, was a revered leader of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation. Renowned for his wisdom, resilience, and dedication to his people, he played a vital role in guiding the Crow through a time of great change. He worked tirelessly to advocate for his people's rights, preserve their cultural traditions, and navigate diplomatic relationships with the United States government. An inspiring aspect of Chief Plenty Coups' leadership is his ability to adapt to new realities while maintaining the integrity of his culture. He was actively involved in negotiating treaties and promoting initiatives related to education and health for his tribe. This sculpture depicts Chief Plenty Coups mounted on his war horse, raising his coup stick as a symbol of victory, cultural pride and unity. His commanding presence embodies strength and resilience, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

The Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition & Sale will be on exhibit June 6-August 3, 2025. Ownership of piece transfers to the buyer at time of purchase. Piece will stay on display in the exhibition until August 3, 2025. Shipment will then be arranged with the buyer and buyer is responsible for all shipping fees.
