The Sleeping Beauty Turquoise mine is near Globe, Arizona. The stone, valued for its sky blue color, received its name from the mountains around the mine, which are shaped like a sleeping woman. In 2012, the mines were sold to a new owner, and turquoise mining operations were closed in favor of copper mining. This has caused the value of Sleeping Beauty turquoise to increase considerably since that time.
